Promotion of Argentinean-German cooperation

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has announced the funding of scientific and technological cooperation between Germany and Argentina.

Proposals for projects involving German and Argentinean partners can be submitted up until the 30th May 2008. The bilateral cooperation is based on a governmental agreement on the cooperation in scientific research and technological development signed in 1969. The programme is coordinated by the Argentinean MINCyT (Ministry for Science, Technology and Productive Innovation, Department of International Relations) and the International Office (IB) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Germany and Argentina contribute to the funding in equal parts. The country sending the researchers will pay for the travel expenses to the project partner. The daily allowances will be paid for by the recipient country.

The call focuses in particular on the life sciences, biotechnology (preferentially industrial biotechnology), environmental technologies and sustainable development; nanotechnologies as well as information and communication sciences. The research projects have to be supported by two or more research groups from Germany and Argentina. Since the funding is only meant as an addition to other funds, the participating institutions should have the financial resources (e.g. personnel expenditures) required to carry out the project at their disposal.
