The project funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg has the goal to build, support and refine the cooperation between higher academic institutions and companies in the field of bioeconomy in Baden-Württemberg.

Master students of Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg can apply for financial support in order to put their theoretical knowledge of the bioeconomy to use in the practical environment of small and medium-sized enterprises. The funding limit is 5.000€ per project. The maximum funding period is 6 months.

We will fund

  • Master theses
  • Internships during or directly after the completing the master programme
  • Research within interdisciplinary projects

You can receive funding for

  • Travel expenses for the student project
  • Rental costs for machines and equipment
  • Work material, labware, personal protective equipment, tools, etc.

Applications for projects in the area of utilisation of hardwood and lignocellulose as well as projects with a high innovative potential will be given priority.

Criteria for funding

  • Students: application is open to all master students enrolled in a University or University of Applied Sciences in Baden-Württemberg

  • Companies: SMEs – prioritising:
    Companies located in Baden-Württemberg
    Start-ups, small and medium-sized companies

  • Fields: bioeconomy, prioritising:
    Projects in the field of hardwood and lignocellulose
    Projects with high innovative potential
    In case of marginal or similar applications, the projects Management Board will decide if the project will be funded.

An agreement between the student, the supervisor at the University or University of Applied Sciences, and the supervisor from the industry partner has to be submitted in the form of a trilateral written supervision agreement alongside the application form.

  • The funding limit is 5.000 € per project. The overall funding amount will be paid in the form of monthly lump sums, distributed over the research project duration
  • The maximum funding period is 6 months
  • A final paper has to be submitted at the end of the project

Application Deadlines

  • for the winter semester 2021/22: 30 September 2022
  • for the summer semester 2022: 31 March 2022 (the final paper must be submitted by 15 December 2022)

Applications submitted past the deadline will be considered.
